Masha Culic Stambuk Obituary

San Clemente - Masha Stambuk of San Clemente, California died on January 30, 2025. Masha

was born on July 16, 1938 in Split, Croatia to Rose and Boris Culic. The oldest of

three sisters, they lived in Zagreb, Croatia where Masha finished high school. In

1956, the sisters and their mother arrived in Chicago to live with their father.

Masha liked the sciences and started working in a laboratory at Northwestern

University where she met her future husband, Berigoj Stambuk. They were

married on August 18, 1962 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Chicago in a double

ceremony together with her sister and her husband. She completed her college

degree in Chemistry while her husband finished his medical training. The

marriage was blessed by two children, Roxanne Panicacci and Mikula Stambuk.

Masha lived in San Clemente, California for 50 years and had a wonderful

supportive community of neighbors and friends. She worked alongside her

husband in his practice. She was known for her delicious cooking and enjoyed

hosting many friends at her home. Her faith guided her life. Masha believed in the

opportunity of education and encouraged and supported her family to honor

education. She leaves behind her beloved husband Berigoj, her sisters Laila

Benyovszky and Dasha Nisula, her brother-in-law Harold Benyovszky, Roxanne

(Roger) Panicacci, Mikula (Amy) Stambuk and her five grandchildren, Felicity,

Lucy, Martin, Mira and Sophia, and her nieces Antonia, Lucy, Lydia, Nina, Tanya

(#1), and Tanya(#2) and her nephews Andrew, Edgar, Joseph, and Mark, their

spouses, and their children Adrian, Ava, Cassandra, Danny, Jonah, Julianna,

Kristina, Lizzie, Natasha, and Samantha. The funeral is scheduled for Friday,

February 21, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Dana Point,

California. Interment will be on Saturday February 22, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Green

Hills Mortuary in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, please donate in

memory of Masha Stambuk to the Bereavement Ministry or the Bible Study at St.

Edwards Catholic Church.
