Los Angeles, CA - David Paul Bailey - Obituary

Westchester, CA - David Bailey passed away from cancer in his home on January 1, 2026. Dave was born in Bethel, Ohio June 1939 and is preceded in death by his beloved wife Gwendolyn "Gwen" Riffero-Bailey, brother Gil Bailey, and sister Myrna Ponce. He is survived by daughter Lisa Ann Bailey-Underwood, son Erinn Paul Bailey, granddaughters Andi Underwood and Sydney Underwood, great-granddaughter Eleanor, niece Jolene Ponce, and brother in-law Rich Riffero.

His family moved from Ohio to California in 1946, eventually settling in Paso Robles and later in Santa Barbara, where he met and married Gwen in 1960. He graduated UCLA with a BS in Business Administration in 1963, and was in the US Army Reserve. He and Gwen bought their Westchester home in 1973 where they raised their two children. He worked in various accounting and finance management positions over a long career, finally retiring in 2009.

He was highly competitive and always enjoyed a variety of sports and games, had traveled extensively where he honed his photography skills, loved to work on home improvement projects and enjoyed a creative writing class. He also regularly volunteered, most notably as President of the Y Service Club - Westchester YMCA and as Treasurer/Board Member of Homes for Life Foundation alongside his dear friends Carol Liess, Executive Director and Larry Haramoto, Board Member.

In accordance with Dave's wishes, there will be no funeral and his ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean.
